Mighty Blue On The Appalachian Trail: The Ultimate Mid-Life Crisis

Retirement goal!

I’ll never forget my summer reading project when I was 15. As Far As The Eye Can See was my first glimpse into the AT and I haven’t forgotten it. As I approach my 29th birthday, my fascination with the trail has only been fueled by the more books and thru hiker experiences I read and take in. Not only did I ever assume this was something that only “young” people did but with two children (9 and 1) I had all but assumed that any possibility of a thru hike was nothing but a fantasy to live vicariously through others. Until I stumbled upon your podcast! I have since found many other personal accounts of middle age adults, parents and the like, who all took on the AT later on in life. Although I am only a few years in to my active duty status in the United States Navy I have already told my husband to be prepared when I retire. I am fortunate to have married a man who loves the outdoors even more than I do.
So thanks Mighty Blue for helping me realize that my once adolescent fantasy is something I can make a once and a lifetime actuality.
